I first met Tony in ‘96 at Orientation Weekend. I observed Tony crack up our entire class when he became hypnotized as an audience member at the evening entertainment. When he was finally coaxed on stage, he thought that he was driving a “moon mobile.” We were all hysterical!
Fast forward to the fall of ‘97, I was introduced to Tony by a mutual friend in front of the Chapel. I was a busy Education/Psychology majors and he was Business/Accounting. I had to get pretty creative for our paths to cross at all! I really was drawn into his charm and confidence and delightful green-eyed smile.
I would often receive e-flower deliveries as I sat in the computer lab late into the night. There were notes on my dashboard when I left campus early for hockey practice. Tony was an expert at setting up surprises—yellow tulips, concert tickets, trips to NYC, and landing us in the fourth row of a Neil Diamond concert on the Montreal Canadians rink. It was a red sequined jumpsuit extravaganza!
Our amazing friends and community at Saint Mike’s always helped to support us. An epic class of 2000 Spring Break to Cancun sealed our Karlowicz family motto, “Work hard, play hard.” We took a lot of long road trips in the summers and camped up and down the Eastern Coast. Rollercoaster marathons and late night campfires were highlights of the adventures. Although we continue our camping traditions, I have never recovered the number of losses I suffered in card games over the years!
I love Tony because he is clever and brilliant and ever-evolving. He is mischievous, which is maddening and loveable all at once. Tony is a leader and strives for excellence in all endeavors. Tony has built a strong business through perseverance, hard work and consistent sacrifice. Every time I tip a glass or can and walk through the gurgling brewhouse of Back East Brewing Company surrounded by delicious aromas of fermentation, I am struck with awe. I may have left Vermont for a boy, but he certainly made Connecticut feel like home with an amazing family and delicious craft beer. Cheers to Tony!

I love Shannon because she is a part of me. We’ve been together more than half of our lives now and we have done and seen so much together. We’ve grown, changed, evolved and excelled together. We do it together and do it by leaning on each other and supporting each other. We appreciate each other and “get” each other in a way that’s not understandable until it happens.
