Keith ’66 & Susan Maloney

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I met my wife Susan in February 1965 shortly after Valentine’s Day while I was attending St. Mike’s and Susan Mary Capone (note her SMC initials) was attending Trinity College. How did we meet? Susan (with a girlfriend) were hitchhiking to “The Mill” in Winooski (women could do that sort of thing in 1965). It was after a St. Mike’s-UVM basketball game (SMC won!!) at Memorial Auditorium in Burlington when I picked her up.

At the Mill, we shared a chair (it was crowded and we were skinnier back then), a great conversation, a beer and a spark was lit! We were engaged under the tree at Rockefeller Center in NYC that Christmas and married on the day after graduation, June 7, 1966, in the Saint Michael the Archangel Chapel with Fr. Joseph Waite, Professor of English, officiating. Last June we returned to campus to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and for my induction into the Golden Knights! Clearly Saint Michael’s College has had a huge impact on our lives and we will always hold it in a very special place in our hearts!
